BENEFITING: WACHUKU FOUNDATION FOR HUMANITARIAN AID INC
For the last decade, the Wachuku Foundation (www.wfha.us) has been active and contributed to the Rochester community. WFHA has been supported in its efforts by the kindness and generosity of the City of Rochester, Monroe County and environs as well as its residents, companies and educational institutions.
WFHA held several programs in the Rochester area in the areas of workforce development, educational seminars, and housing assistance. In addition, we hosted several fundraisers and contributed the proceeds to the JTR School in Freetown. We collected and freight-shipped donated books, school supplies, toys and medical materials to JTR for its students.
The money received through this collaboration with CrowdRise will have an immediate impact and will be sent directly to the JTR School or used specifically to ship donated books, school supplies, toys and medical materials to Freetown. We are excited about this opportunity to support and expand the mission of this important institution of learning.
The Wachuku Foundation is named for the late Wachuku Gelaga-King, grandson of J.T. Reffell and son of one of the proprietresses of Reffell School. The operators of the school have had close family and friendship connections to the Rochester area for more than 30 years and continue to visit and share experiences with schools, churches and other philanthropic and cultural organizations in Rochester.
