I am participating in Strut Your Kidney to help raise money for NW Kidney Kids, an organization that has been an invaluable resource to my family. When my daughter was two weeks old, we learned that she had kidney failure, and we were terrified. We had no idea what it would take to manage her condition, or what life would be like for her as she grew up. We were scared and overwhelmed.
NW Kidney Kids provided us with opportunities to meet other children with kidney disease, and to see them not only receive treatment, but be kids, play, grow, and thrive. My daughter is now 15 years old. She received one of my kidneys over ten years ago, and every year looks forward to attending Kidney Camp and reconnecting with her many Kidney Friends. Our whole family receives support and encouragement from other families who have gone through experiences similar to ours.
Now, as a “veteran” Kidney father, I look forward to meeting families who are new to the experience of having a child with kidney disease, in the hope of being able to provide some support and guidance of the kind I have benefited from so much over the years.
I hope you will consider becoming a sponsor, and supporting NW Kidney Kids. Thank you!
