Among the 2017 cohort are organizers working for transgender justice, arts based educators, and individual doing transformational work in their communities. The 2017 cohort will spend the next two days building relationships with each other and the TFC network, skill-sharing, and prepare for the Fellowship year! Training for Change is committed to supporting individuals to step into their full power, try on new behaviors, and identify their individual leadership style. Developing strong leaders in grassroots organizing is a skill that requires activist, mentors, and trainers to resist the urge to become static. Our ability to remain flexible and adapt as new leaders join movements increases our capacity grow effective, strategic organizing across various struggles.
The path for racial justice and social change requires a long-term commitment and support for grassroots movements on many different fronts. Through the Judith C. Jones (JCJ) Fellowship for Trainers of Color we are advancing the leadership of trainers and organizers of color working at the grassroots level to build power, skills and knowledge in their communities.
2017 JCJ Crowdrise Fundraiser
Over the next six weeks, we’ll be sharing profiles of each Fellow as a part of the JCJ Crowdrise Fundraiser! Last year we reached our fundraising goal, allowing us to grow and increase the impact of the Fellowship. We’ve expanded the Fellowship from five to eight Fellows, and Graduate Fellow Omi Masika has joined the coordination and coaching team! This year, we’ve set our sights higher and have a goal of raising $5000 between now and April 30th! Here’s a breakdown of how your donation will be used:
- $25 pays for the orientation materials for one Fellow
- $30 pays for one monthly coaching/mentorship session
- $50 pays for the development of one of our quarterly group webinars
- $200 provides a scholarship for a Fellow to attend one of our weekend-long workshops
- $360 sponsors coaching sessions for a Fellow for the entire year
- $500 provides a travel/personal development stipend for one Fellow
Will you help us reach our goal? Make a donation today!
We are delighted to report that we are kicking off the JCJ Fundraiser with a headstart of $1200 thanks to generous donations we received from workshop participants, trainers, and coaches! ! Every little bit will bring us that much closer to our goal!
