Here's my pitch: Y'all know I love food. Everything from Virginia peanuts to a fancy pizza to gorgeous steak on the grill makes me happy. Except white chocolate. That stuff is just wrong.
So raising money to help feed people that struggle to afford the basics is the least I can do. The part that I always find alarming is that hunger is prevalant here in the US, in fact, in our own towns. So shake loose a little cash. You can help people who just might be your neighbors, or the person who serves your coffee, or the folks with a kid who always makes you smile.
Here's the template pitch: RUN 10 FEED 10 started in 2012 with the hope of raising money and awareness for the dire hunger problem in America. The concept was a simple one. RUN a 10K and FEED 10 hungry people in your hometown. Since we started, you’ve helped us to raise enough money to provide 3.75 million meals to Americans in need. Now, going into our fourth year, we need your help once again to reach our goal of providing 5 million meals.
Here's the wrap: Donate any amount. Don't do it because I asked. Do it because I reminded you that hunger is a problem we can easily help solve, and it feels so good to give back. And if you don't have any spare money right now, that's OK. Just keep the cause in mind, and in the future spread a little cash where it can do a lot of good.
And always, keep a song in your heart.
