Julia, 19 years old, was diagnosed with a life threatening disease called Severe Aplastic Anemia on November 2nd 2016. This is a rare blood disease that causes bone marrow failure which results in her body only making 2% of the White cells, Red cells, and Platelets that she needs, while the average person's body makes 85%. Julia is blood/platelet transfusion dependent, and has no immune system causing her to often get severely sick, and/or a range of infections throughout her body. The only cure for Aplastic Anemia is a bone marrow transplant (also known as stem cell transplant) which will put her into remission, and she will need to take precautions and medication for the rest of her life to ensure that she does not get graft vs host disease. As insurances are changing, medications are beginning to not be covered, and her insurance is no longer being accepted at the hospital where her stem cell doctors are located. We are in desperate need of funding to keep Julia as healthy as possible until she is cured, as well as assistance in paying for all that she needs to be cured. Without a transplant, Julia may not survive. Please, anything will help, including sharing her story. Thank you.
