Hello dear friends, we just wanted to give you a heads up about an email invitation you will receive from us in the next couple of days to a closed facebook group. Please accept the invitation for updates and to give us your feedback and comments on our fundraiser. Also, if you would like to join our team to raise funds, please do let us know. It would be a great help and the need is so desperate that every penny literally counts. We can have as many people as it takes on our team. Thanks everyone once again. We will be in touch soon.

Dear Friends, As you know, t…
Dear Friends, As you know, things are still very volatile in Nepal with numerous aftershocks that have occurred since the major quake. People are traumatized. Most, including our friends and family, are camping outdoors. Relatives and neighbors are using our family property as campground. Our mother, Milan Shrestha, is running her own soup kitchen at home. She fed a meal to 25 people on the first day after the quake and a meal for 51 yesterday! We also found out that Shakuntala, a young woman who used to work for us has sustained serious head injuries. Shakuntala is a promising young woman who worked very hard to procure a lower level government job. She comes from Dhading, one of the worst affected rural areas about 100 kms west of Kathmandu. When Shankuntala was injured and brought to the hospital, there was no one who could confirm her identity. Finding the phone number of our parents on her phone as “Ba & Ama” (which translates to father and mother), the hospital called. Our parents transported Shakuntala to a better-suited hospital, helped dress her wounds and have been providing food and drinks for her since. At the hospital our mother said she was overwhelmed by the number of people camped outside, fighting for life, waiting for someone to help them and yet so afraid that another earthquake may kill them first. Our families are helping in whatever way they can. One of our cousins has helped set up a relief camp in the center of the city (Operation Relief). Reshu, our sister, and her husband, are providing drinking water for the camp. They will continue to work with the local relief effort as best as they can.
Many people we know have already lost or are on the brink of losing their houses – the old houses rattled by the first quake are further weakened by every aftershock that occurs. Without help we know they will never be able to get back on their feet. The damage outside Kathmandu is almost a complete unknown until now. There are reports that entire villages have been wiped out including livestock, houses and people. But access to these areas, even by air is close to impossible. Nobody including the government knows the scope of the disaster. As we are thinking more about post disaster support (because of our life situations), these are a few things currently on our mind. We will be setting up a more effective mode of communication where you can get all our updates and leave your comments soon. Until then, Dhanyabad, thanks again.

Dear Juliann,

Thank you for your recent and generous donation of $25.00 towards the Patagonia/Moosejaw Charity Thing on Crowdrise. So glad the UP has a special place in your heart!

The Yellow Dog River and Salmon Trout River are high quality waterways, and we work to maintain these and other local natural resources with the help of your gift. Every donation, big or small, is 100% tax deductible and supports our programs.

Your donation supports efforts, such as: teaching students about natural processes, purchasing land for preservation, purchasing equipment for monitoring the ecological integrity of the watershed, and conducting sound scientific data collection used to create baseline conditions, and other accomplishments.

The overwhelming spirit of giving and concern for this area unites us all. Everyone here at the Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve is grateful for your contribution and encourages you to continue your support for our collective cause.

Sincerely,
From all of us here at YDWP
