On October 13, 2013, I will be running in my first marathon to raise funds for Grassroot Soccer(GRS), a nonprofit which uses the power of soccer to educate and inspire youth to stay HIV free. As many of you know, GRS is incredibly special to me as I had the pleasure of joining their team in South Africa in 2010. Although the race is a daunting challenge, I am especially motivated knowing that I will once again be working for such a worthy cause and I hope you will consider sponsoring me for this event.
While young people in Africa are hit hardest by AIDS, they are also the greatest force for change. As part of the GRS team, I worked daily with the incredible participants, coaches, and staff, and I can attest to the success of their programs. Grassroot Soccer has graduated over 500,000 youth from their program, and by the next World Cup in 2014, they hope to double their impact by educating one million young people about AIDS.
Every $25 provides one youth with access to a healthy meal, a safe space for after-school programs, and community leaders who empower participants with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to break the cycle of AIDS.
You can make a difference... please join me in supporting a very important cause. Thank you!
