BENEFITING: The Eating Disorders Information Network, Inc.
EVENT: Merrick's Walk for EDIN 2015
EVENT DATE: Oct 25, 2015
My purpose is simple...to raise awareness of eating disorders and to let everyone know there is a network of help out there. No one should feel alone in this battle nor should they feel shame. Unfortunately, those suffering often feel both. Please join me in my quest to reach my goal!!!
The event began in 2001 in honor of Merrick Ryan, a 19 year old Galloway alum who died from complications of anorexia.
The theme of this year's Merrick's Walk is "The Journey Begins with One Step." We chose this theme because it's easy to get discouraged when one looks ahead to a difficult journey, such as the journey to recovery from an eating disorder or to make peace with one's body and with food. For many who are struggling with an eating disorder the battle can feel nearly impossible, yet we want to share a message that there is hope. Recovery is possible! It is possible to learn to love your body and to make peace with food. However, it is a journey and all journeys begin with one step. Tell a trusted friend. Ask for help. Make an appointment with a therapist.
Please join us in our mission of preventing eating disorders, increasing awarementss and promoting positive self-esteem. Thank you for your support!!
With love and gratitude,
Julie, Jordan and Maddie
