THE STORY:
Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc. wrote -
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Jumpstart delivers a research-based and cost-effective program by training college students and community volunteers to work with pre-school aged children in low-income neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success. This year, in Massachusetts alone, over 775 Jumpstart Corps members will give over 190,000 hours of service to 2,000 children, building the vital language and literacy skills children need to thrive academically. The Northeast chapter of Jumpstart's Young Professionals Board (YPB) is a diverse group of Boston-area young professionals committed to raising awareness about the importance of early education and raising funds to support Jumpstart's programming. Through community events and individual fundraising, the YPB generates additional resources for Jumpstart while also providing professional development and networking opportunities for its members.
