In March 2014 I joined the Young Professionals Board (YPB) of Jumpstart Region II (www.jstart.org), a nonprofit organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Since its founding in 1993, Jumpstart has trained 36,000 college students and volunteers to provide language, literacy, and social-emotional programming to 60,000 children in under-served communities across the country. The YPB is a group of young professionals committed to promoting and bringing awareness to Jumpstart’s mission. Along with increasing the visibility of the agency, one of the goals for YPB members is to help Jumpstart raise funds to support programming through special events.
This fall, the YPB is engaging in a viral campaign in support of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record initiative, which mobilizes millions of people to participate in the world’s largest shared reading experience on October 22, 2015. Jumpstart’s Read for the Record highlights the importance of early learning, closing the 30 million word gap for low-income children, and growing a child’s love of reading.
Our financial goal is to raise $10,000 in 10 days in celebration of the 10th anniversary of RFTR and in support of the children we serve. Jumpstart will allocate 100% of the funds raised to provide high-quality early education programs to the children who need it most. Any donation will be matched 1:1.
Every dollar counts, so any form of support would be very much appreciated by the YPB and, most importantly, the children we serve!
Thanks so much for your consideration. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. Sincerely, Kelsey
