For as long as I can remember, reading has been such an enjoyable part of my life and is an ability I often take for granted. This abiltiy and appreciation is due to the caring and encouraging adults who made my education a priority. Unfortunately, not every child is afforded the same support, and as a result, many children are entering school already behind their peers, and are never able to catch up. This has severe educational, economic and social impacts on students, often times for the rest of their lives.
This is where Jumpstart comes in!

Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Jumpstart delivers a research-based and cost-effective program by training college students and community volunteers to work with pre-school aged children in low-income neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success. This year, in Massachusetts alone, over 775 Jumpstart Corps members will give over 190,000 hours of service to 2,000 children, building the vital language and literacy skills children need to thrive academically.
I joined the Young Professionals Board to work with like minded individuals towards the incredible goal of contributing to the improvement of public education in America. As part of my commitment to the Young Professionals Board, in addition to the many events we host, I am fundrasing for Jumpstart so that they can continue to change the future for children in America.
Please consider your own educational background and abilties and consider helping support such an amazing organization provide students with the same opportunties as their peers.
