Juneau to Jinja Outreach to Uganda
Organized by: Michelle Strickler
Juneau to Jinja has conducted several compassion projects in Uganda and recently returned from our 4th, leading a team of 11 high school students from Juneau, Alaska. As a Rotarian, in 2013 I completed the work for a District Simplified Grant focusing on a school library and economic development for women in the village surrounding the school. We also installed a clean water source and electricity. I am presently working to obtain approval for a Rotary Global Grant in the amount of $100,000 to focus on improvements at local schools with the partnership of the Ugandan rotary club in Jinja, Uganda. To further the strength of these relationships, we are hoping to offer reciprocal exchanges for some of our partner leaders, and to return to follow-up on the important work that was started.
