Just need a break for school
Organized by: Adrian Lall
A few years ago, I suffered a workplace injury (sprinkler pipe fell from scaffolding onto my shoulder). The company I worked for laid me off the next day. Over the course of the next few months, trying to deal with EI and WSIB, my shoulder got worse. I was in physiotherapy for about 14 months. Having healed as much as I could, I went out looking to rejoin the workforce in my industry. Interview after interview, I was turned down because of the risk of re-injury and the gap in my resume while I was healing. I was turned down by Second Career, by one point, saying that my industry is unaffected, though I was explaining that it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain employment the longer I am unemployed, considering the nature of my injury. I have since decided on a change in career and have been doing my best to educate myself, taking as many courses as I can and have since applied to the school of my choice, a developer bootcamp. Less than an hour after taking the entrance exam I received my acceptance and am now just waiting to obtain funds. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have run out of known options and wish very much to get my life back on track.
