After 22 years in the Navy, I was served with the perfect dish. PTSD with a nice helping of depression and anxiety! Yes, that's sarcasm but my demons were real. I found myself a former shelf of who I had known myself to be but with the help of my doctors and therapist, I am finally getting back to my old self. When the dust settled, I woke up with the incredible desire to create blessing bags for the homeless. Since it was the winter, my first bags contained socks, gloves, hats and toiletries. I was able to create 140 bags from the donations I received and personal funds. I reached out to several companies but each wrote me a nice letter telling me that they couldn't help because they donate on a much bigger scale. These were the same companies that I was including their products into the bags. Moving forward, I decided to give myself more time to raise money and create more bags, so that's why I am doing this. There are so many people that are homeless for whatever reason and each bag will be a simple way to put a smile on someone's face. Thank you for reading and if the mood hits you, donate and share!
