BENEFITING: VENTURE EXPEDITIONS INC
There are more slaves alive today than at any other time in human history. Sources estimate that the number is well over 27 million. Most are young children, exploited and abused for the profit of others. The causes are many: famine, war, disaster, mafia, poverty, ignorance, hopelessness.
Despite historical efforts to eliminate slavery, the issue continues to affect communities around the world. Humans are the 2nd most demanded item on the international black market, trailing Narcotics by a small margin. Although both governmental and nongovernmental agencies are working to fight the issue, the industry continues to grow rapidly.
The church in the U.S. is largely unaware of the challenge of slavery but has the potential to greatly reduce the problem and restore the dignity of victims through the Gospel.
The Just+Hope Campaign
Venture Expeditions is using the Just+Hope Campaign to connect Local Churches in the U.S. with the Local Church around the world in areas that are at high risk of slavery and other forms of injustice. Our goal is to establish long-term partnerships that sustainably transform entire communities in these high risk areas.
The Just+Hope Center is one way we are working to express Jesus' love by providing holistic care for the youth and vulnerable people living in the Ban Pong community in Northern Thailand. This center will serve as a focal point for addressing the various issues facing the community while also serving as a refuge for the youth in the community.
