The Reality of Police Brutality

THE STORY:

Amanda Smith wrote -

When you've been victimized by the very people there to be your protectors, it becomes increasingly harder to find somewhere you feel comfortable to turn in the case of an emergency. Since I was attacked by Officer R. R. Ray and his fellow officer of the Virginia Beach Police Department nine years I've been diagnosed with PTSD and Major Depression, suffered a fractured rib where he repeatedly punched me, still deal with the neck and shoulder injuries, and worst of all, had to drop the case against his fellow officer for touching me inappropriately during an illegal search simply because I didn't think to get his name or badge number. Since then I've been fighting for justice for myself and others because I know I'm not the only one. I actually witnessed 4 officers on top of another young lady when i ran toward her screams. One showed me a badge and told me to back off, but i made myself stay as a witness because i wish someone did something for me. Although I had no way to help her further that night, I can keep going with my case. I've had an amazing attorney named Darren Hart who's worked at no cost to me because he truly believes in myself and my case, but because of medical reasons he was forced into early retirement right before trial. I finally found an attorney with the means to take on a case of this magnitude, but i don't have the retainer necessary to hire him. I'm not trying to get rich quick, or slow for that matter, after 9 years, I just want to make a difference so no one else becomes a victim, and I want to get my life back on the path it was on before this incident. To do that i need medical and psychological support, support i just can't afford without winning this case, and I have little chance of winning without an attorney by my side (or a knowledge of the law I simply don't have). I can't quit now even if i wanted to anyway, I just couldn't let Mr. Hart's hard work all be done in vain. Don't get me wrong, I'm very proud of what's already been accomplished, but he did this to get me the help I need as well as making the changes he's helped make through my case. Please look into my case, and if you can, please support me by giving something, anything toward my legal fees. Thank you so much for your time and attention. Amanda Smith

If everyone could please simply share this, and get the word out. We were almost there... and our family has been through hell because of the brutality of this one police officer and the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia USA trying to cover it up. We are fighting City Hall alone, and no local attorney will take this because of the "political fall-out" should they try to fight the city in which they live or work. I am grateful to you. And if each person could please simply donate a dollar or five dollars or whatever they can afford, we would be so very grateful. We are in need of an attorney to represent my niece in this case of police brutality that has ruined her life. We are begging for help and we are praying for a miracle. Thank you so very much for your consideration! Blessings, gratitude and love to all. Deborah 3 years ago
