Justice High School's Costa Rica Trip
Organized by: Emi Caligiuri
Justice High is a year round college prep school ideal for at-risk youth who are disconnected from the traditional school system because of juvenile delinquency, drugs and alcohol, alienation or other factors. Our philosophy is that these 'at-risk' youth can become successful if given an opportunity and a structured environment. Justice High gives each student the opportunity to grow into a respectful adult who will have the knowledge, will, and self-esteem to succeed in college and life.
One of the opportunities we try to provide for our students is the chance to travel to Costa Rica each year. It is a cultural exchange trip with community service projects. The students that go on this trip will have the opportunity to build a community library and volunteer with wildlife as well as study zoology, biology, and sociology all while exploring a new place and a new culture. In addition to their work, the students will also get to participate in new, fun activities such as ziplining or hiking in the rainforest.
Most of these students have never been on a plane before so in addition to the cost of the trip, they will also need the fees to get a passport for the first time. Our goal is to get 10 students on the trip this year. The money raised will cover the cost of their flights, housing and meals, as well as their passport fees.
Please help us broaden the minds of these students and send them to Costa Rica! This is an incredible opportunity not only for these kids but for you to be a part of their journey. Thank you in advance for your generosity in helping our students learn and grow.
