Justice Now is an organization led by directly impacted people both in and released from CA women's prisons. We see abolition as a necessary strategy toward a just world. Some of our work and victories include:
Bringing on a second formerly incarcerated Co-Director.
Partnering with A New Way of Life, Time For Change Foundation, and CA Wellness to direct Prop 47 funding toward addressing the employment barriers for women and girls of color.
Partnering with Senator Mitchell, the ACLU NorCal, and Planned Parenthood to expand contraception access and education in CA women's prisons.
Partenring in a Trans Advocacy coalition to connect our trans identified members in CA women's prisons to advocacy and peer support.
Parterning with California Coaliton for Women Prisoners to highlight human rights abuses and escalated suicide crisis in CA women's prisons
Worked with Access Women's Health Justice at the intersection of incarceration and reproductive oppression and had an abolish prisons billboard in a local Oakland neighborhood.
We continue to provide direct services and compassionate release advocacy for people in women's prisons
We continue to provide political education to people inside, and provide a vehicle to include incarcerated people in the political process.
All these strategies are meant to build community bridges and empower the most disadvantaged and silenced of communities that are held behind prison walls.
