Justin Huinker's Lymphoma Medical Fund
Organized by: Pi Kappa Chi
EVENT DATE May 14, 2016
Justin Huinker is a 2013 graduate of Wisconsin University – La Crosse. He obtained his Biomedical Science degree and is currently pursuing his doctorate degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He grew up in Reedsburg, Wisconsin with his parents Dale and Blanche and his brother, Chad. He was an active participant in the sports community during high school and college and continues to play baseball at Palmer.
In February 2016, Justin visited his doctor to address his stomach pains. After rounds of testing a tumor was discovered with a diagnosis of Burkitt Lymphoma.
Burkitt Lymphoma is a form of Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma that starts in the immune cells called “B cells” and is recognized as the fastest growing human tumor. His treatment consists of 6 to 8 rounds of intense chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and spinal taps. While he is in treatment he spends 5 to 6 days in the hospital. He is receiving treatment in St. Mary’s in Madison Wisconsin over an hour from his home. With the extended hospital stays and costly treatment, the medical expenses are quickly adding up. Because of his treatment, Justin has to take a break from his school responsibilities and focus on healing. If all goes as planned he hopes to return to Palmer to finish his last year of the Chiropractic Program.
Justin and his family could use all the help and support that they can get! Please consider a monetary donation to ease the process during this difficult time.
