Dear Friends and Family,
I'm excited to be raising funds for Jewish Youth for Community Action (JYCA). I've set a goal to raise $400 by the end of August, and I'm hoping you can help.
JYCA is a wonderful and exciting organization that supports youth in forming community, learning leadership skills, and engaging in social justice activism. Both of my kids were members of JYCA during their high school years, and while they were involved in different ways, they each benefitted tremendously from their participation in JYCA.
There's being an adolescent and finding a community of peers with shared values. There's learning about social justice issues, deciding where to put energy into working for change, and doing so as part of a group. There's spending a weekend retreat together, learning, growing, and having a blast. There's sitting on a board with youth and adults and learning how non-profits work, from fundraising to hiring to finances. And there's so much more!
Because I think so highly of JYCA and to give back to an organization that's been great for my kids and so many other youth, I've been on JYCA's Board for the past two years. It's been great working with youth, JYCA alums in their 20's and 30's, and other adults to support the work JYCA does.
This past year has seen great connections made and wonderful programming, and it's also seen staff transitions and a decline in grants that have left us with fewer reserves than usual. I'm therefore asking for your help through a donation to this great organization.
Please consider the value JYCA has had for you or someone you know, and please give as generously as possible. Also feel free to forward this to others you think might consider helping.
Thank you on behalf of JYCA,
