Yesterday, my lab was diagnosed with Horners Sign, a neurological disease that has several different causes all with the same end result. A hallmark of the disease is that it appears 'spontaneously ' Hers is caused by some kind of inner ear dysfunction, causing a brain tumor (probably malignant) which is pressing against her optic nerves causing her to lose the ability to close her third eye, her eyelid to droop, a discharge and some loss of vision. In order to diagnose how big the tumor is, what exactly it is affecting, where it is located, malignancy and a treatment course, which may include brain surgery or chemotherapy (this is a curable disease, according to my research a cure is achievabe in 6-8 weeks) she needs an MRI. In addition, I was told she has glaucoma which after the Horners Sign treatment would also require surgery or she would become blind. Kai is still an active, playful girl who loves to dive in the ocean coming up with rocks or clams that she loves to hide in the dunes. She also still loves to catch or jump up for her tennis ball. The cost of the MRI alone is $3000. I have no idea yet the cost of the Horners treatment but I don't think it will be cheap by any means, and I was told the glaucoma surgery is also$3000...per eye Due to Multiple Sclerosis, I had to retire from my career as a special education teacher early and now subside on small Medicare and pension checks. I can take care of a little of Kai's medical bills but am unable to come close to what she needs. The posted $9000 doesn't even include her treatment for the Horners as I have no idea what that will be until the MRI is completed. I appreciate anything anyone can help me with...more than I could say. Thank you so much for your consideration and for taking the time to read this
