BENEFITING: BORGEN PROJECT
Everyone deserves a fair chance at realizing his or her desires and dreams in this world. However, global poverty is a phenomenon that prevents people from having fair and equal opportunities solely due to their geographic location. The Borgen Project seeks to alleviate global poverty through advocacy and mobilization, which is the key to addressing this issue.
The origins of the Borgen Project date back to 1999 when Clint Borgen volunteered to work in refugee camps during the Kosovo War. During the trip he was dismayed at the extent of poverty in the region, and he was appalled by the United State's lack of responsiveness to the globe's biggest human rights issue. After this experience, Clint was inspired, and he joined an Alaskan fishing fleet for the sole purpose of raising money to create the Borgen Project. Now in 2015, the Borgen Project is a widely acknowledged and successful NGO that has made amazing gains in reducing global poverty. We do this by mobilizing citizens and congress to support policy legislation that will create tangible results.
The funds from my campaign will go towards the group's advocacy and poverty-reduction efforts, so your donations will help us make a change!
