BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
About "Karen's Girls" and Team Bright Pink:
Kaitlyn and Eryn Hedderman are running in honor and memory of their mother Karen. Karen was a breast cancer survivor of three years before the cancer had returned to the brain in February of 2015. Before passing in November that year, Karen was passionate about inspring others, especially her daughters, to learn ways of improving their bodies and minds to live longer, healthier and happier lives. Karen had empowered her daughter Kaitlyn to be an advocate for her health, which led to Kaitlyn's early, incidental detection of an Ependynoma Grade II brain tumor. Kaitlyn had a successful resection, August of 2015, and completed 33 radiation treatments the last week of January, last year. The past two years had only made Kaitlyn and Eryn stronger, and they are ready to challenge their bodies and minds by running the 2017 Chicago Marathon with Team Bright Pink, knowing that their mother will be with them every step of the way and that ALL of the money they raised will go towards a nonprofit that Karen would be ALL about (one that aims to educate and inspire women to move from awareness to action, practicing risk reduction and early detection as a part of a proactive life). Your donation helps Bright Pink teach more women breast and ovarian cancer prevention and early detection, with hopes of saving lives! Both of Karen's girls set a goal to raise $1,750.00 each by August, 2017. They thank you for your contribution and will see you at the finish line next October!
