"Harmony with land is like harmony with a friend" - Aldo Leopold
Scientists, philosophers, psychologists, ecologists, teachers, and students of all ages agree that spending time outside is good for you! Financially supporting the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden helps deepen our community's connection with nature by offering "education through exploration." Please help us create meaningful nature connections by making a tax-deductible contribution, NOW.
Your Botanical Garden receives no government subsidies and is totally reliant on memberships and charitable donations.
Will you help the Garden GROW?
With the goal of “Education through Exploration”, community members have the opportunity to learn about sustainability, healthy eating, the laws of ecology, where food come from, and how indigenous people used the plants within the area.
The Garden is free and open to the public 365 days a year, and annually host thousands of visitors to educational programs, tours, and strolls through the Garden.
Every year, the Garden collaborates with Cal Poly STRIDE team to create a Garden Fresh Family Cooking Class that allows children to engage in preparing a nutritious meal from beginning to end. The Garden is a proud participant of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative that focuses on encouraging children to lead a healthy lifestyle by making wise food choices, nutritional education and the importance of exercise. The Garden's Fresh Cooking Class was featured as a sucess story in the Let’s Move! Museums and Gardens Newsletter.
We are honored that our programs has made a positive impact on the lives of children and their families. With your support, we can fulfill our vision by keeping our Garden growing. Each gift we receive makes it possible for volunteers and staff to cultivate, maintain, improve the Garden and each visitor’s experience, while promoting a positive learning environment.
