Meet Margarita. She is one of many children who live in a tucked-away orphanage in Kalinovka, Ukraine, Zaporozhye region. This little angel, only 5 years old, is often ready with a smile, despite her pain! A heart abnormality, breathing problems, and an inability to eat (she must be given formula through a feeding tube) are just some of the demons that she must face every day.
The children in this orphanage, the Chernigov Child's Home, all have special needs. Some have Down syndrome, others suffer from hydrocephalus; these kids cope with a number of physical and mental disabilities. They have no regular medical care. Their resident "doctor" is actually a retired dentist, who graciously accepted the job, because no one else would! These kids need a good pediatrician, but it is quite difficult for the orphanage to find one willing to work there full-time.
For about $100 per week, though, a qualified doctor can be hired to come in on the weekends to provide exams and order medications and treatment procedures. The orphanage can't pay for that, either... unless we help!
KMAP has an initial goal of raising $5,200. This amount will cover the cost of one year of weekly visits. Your tax-deductible contribution is a step toward a vast improvement in the quality of life for these angels!
Maya's Hope is a 501(c)3 charity that helps these little ones get what they need. For updates on these precious children, please visit the Maya's Hope Facebook page. For KMAP updates, please visit our Facebook page.
Thank you so much!
