Kamran is a joyful, happy, caring, loving nine year old boy. I am Kamran's mom. Kamran lives with a motility disorder that requires daily care in order to pass stool. Additionally, Kamran lives with Asperger's Syndrome and medicated ADHD. I will not say that Kamran struggles with these disorders, but he lives with them. Through all the medical testing that Kamran has had over the last nine years, he has maintained the biggest heart of any child I know. His love of life shines trough the "struggles." Kamran has asked for a dog to be his his friend. Because of the disorders he lives with, a therapy dog is what Kamran needs. A dog that knows when to help with tantrums, a dog that knows when to help with repetitive behaviors, and a dog that knows when bathroom needs should be addressed. Kamran has a strong love for dogs and I think this would really help him excel in his daily life.
There is an organization called Dog Wish that helps train dogs for this very thing. The cost is anywhere between 15,000 - 20,000 for the dog to be fully trained and be specific to the child's needs. This is what we wish for Kamran. You can take a look at this organization at http://www.dogwish.org/aspergers-service-dogs.html.
