BENEFITING: FACE-TO-FACE PROJECT INC
Kang’oma Youth Group (KYG) KYG is composed of 15 select boys and girls between ages 14 and 21, who lead their hamlets in Kang’oma in learning and teaching their communities about HIV/AIDS, TB, sanitation, safe sex, and more. They meet weekly for meetings at the CBO office, where they discuss information they have learned and teach it to the attending youths. The group also conducts “Outreaches,” where they travel to nearby villages and hamlets to teach through song, dance, skits, poetry, and other traditional forms of entertainment.
KYG works as an intermediary between F2F and the villages, allowing the youths to teach and empower themselves without ever removing them from the community. The youth group is involved in community improvement activities such as assisting the elderly and cleaning the local clinic, as well as extended duties with F2F including the 2011 Census.
