After spending up to $17,000 and 4 to 8 weeks in managing third party drillers to drill our boreholes in 4 different countries, we made the commitment to buy or own drill rig and ship it to Mombasa, Kenya. Well, in November 2010 we safely unloaded the drill rig and towed it to a remote drill site in Ukunda, nearly 50 km south of Mombasa, where we successfully drilled our first well. We are now stationed in Nairobi and have plans to begin drilling in Eastern Province, which has experienced significant drought conditions for more than 3 years now. We employ an all Kenyan drill team, with direction from our local business manager and experienced drilling superintendent. We have budgeted about $8,000 per well, including a pump and storage tank, as well as spare (wear) parts for long-term sustainability. We provide maintenance training as well as health and hygiene training as part of every project. Please consider participating with us on our next project, which will be a borehole and submersible pump for a public/private school in Kangundo, Kenya, where they care for and teach 40 blind youth as part of excellent education program for a total of 160 students - with no government support.
