BENEFITING: International Rescue Committee
As some of you’ve likely heard, the world is in the midst of the largest humanitarian crisis since WWII. Four countries in Africa — South Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, and northeast Nigeria — are suffering from famine, and approximately 20 million people face death as a result. Unless the international community pulls together aid in sum of at least $6 billion, those 20 million people will starve to death. To ignore the plight of starving people just because they are not our neighbors is as morally reprehensible as ignoring a child drowning in a pool for the inconvenience of getting your clothes wet. Kansas Fights Famine hopes to be a sliver of light for the 20 million men, women and children living in darkness. We must act now, for the sake of all humanity.
