Kaptain Laurel's internship to South Africa
Organized by: Fatima Caruz
Education for me is very valuable and the only treasure in the world that cannot be taken away from us. So I work and study at the same time because my parents cannot afford to send me high school and college. I work and lived in different places and people to be able to finish my studies. But the last people who let me work and study wants me to get an Accountancy course. I am hesitant to enroll not because I am no good at Math but because my heart is not on working a 9-5 routine in a corporate world. I really have the heart on teaching children and volunteering. When I get back to my parents I have saved enough money while studying to raise 2 hogs. I googled affordable travel destination where I will be able to volunteer and I stumbled upon teaching English abroad. After the hogs were sold, I invested half of the money earned to enrol into that course and half to purchase new hogs to raise. While I am taking the course I have read some internship opportunities in their site. I was happy that after taking their course they will help me as well to get an internship. The good thing is that USD150 of my fees will be donated directly to medicines, projects in South America. But I cannot afford the internship. The cost is $1580 CAD alone exclusive to my plane ticket, visa, medical insurance and vaccines. My intention is not solely teach English but be able to volunteer and make a difference. But all of this will not make haplen without your help. Please help me fund my internship and travel expenses to South Africa.
