BENEFITING: CAROLINAS WE FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jan 14, 2015
Kara is a junior at Canfield High School in Canfield, OH, and a two year varsity softball player. Kara made 'First Team All League' and 'Most Promising Underclassman' as a sophomore at Canfield High. As a result of all of her hard work and devotion, Kara was chosen to represent the United States in the Cup 2015 in the Netherlands.
Kara is the fourth of six children born to Tim and Beth Rothbauer. The Rothbauer family is, quite simply, an amazing family with an incredible story. The Rothbauer's oldest child, Drew, was diagnosed at a very young age with severe Cerebral Palsy (CP). Drew is the center of the Rothbauer universe that unites the family. It is so clear the love that Kara and all of her siblings have for each other and how dedicated they are to Drew. As the oldest brother, Drew has been, and remains, their inspiration.
Like the entire Rothbauer clan, Kara believes in hard work, faith and family above all else. Each family member is quite accomplished in their own right (from academics, sports, music and so forth) yet they maintain a sense of selflessness and good will toward all others that cross their paths.
About the NAST
The NAST (North American Select Team) prides itself in representing the continent with great athletes as well as great people. These two criteria make the selections much different than most. Further, the NAST doe not have tryouts for this program but wants athletes to know from across the continent that their dream of playing internationally is just a phone call or email away. The NAST is very selective choosing players based on their athletic ability, social skills, ability to get along with people and personality.
The support group for this particular team is tremendous. For Cup 2015, we are taking 6 teams of 10 athletes and in excess of 100 adults. Each athlete is afforded the opportunity to invite who they wish (parent, sibling, ect.) to accompany them on this trip.
