Kara's Medical Mission Trip To Nicaragua
Organized by: Kara Dienes
At the University of Nevada School of Medicine, our goal is to promote education in culturally sensitive and culturally competent healthcare to enable physicians to provide more complete care to the underserved and culturally diverse populations within our communities. To achieve this goal, I will be participating in a medical mission trip to Nicaragua with five other medical students via a program called Bridges to Community, a nonprofit organization.
We will be travelling to a small, rural community in Nicaragua that lacks access to healthcare and will help organize and run a clinic. In addition, we will also be working on local building projects. We will all see the realities of poverty in a developing country and will have the opportunity to practice and improve our clinical skills, learn about the local culture, and learn ways in which we can address global health issues.
Any contribution would be a huge help with the cost of the volunteer program, airfare, supplies, and medical equipment. Thank you!
