Over two years ago a little boy from a shelter came to our Karate School to watch class with one of his friends. We invited him to try the class and though he was shy and hesitant at first he steped onto the mats with a smile that never left his face the rest of class time. He was so excited and so grateful for the opportunity to participate in something he would normally not have the chance to do. That's when I realized how much something like this would mean to him and other at risk children in similar situations.
If you ask anyone who has been training in any type of Martial Arts for any period of time, they will tell you how its life changing. Martial arts has so many benifits that include teaching discipline, building strong character, minds and bodies. instilling structure and often times providing a new "family" with the people that train together and it's so much fun!
I am on a mission to give this opportunity to little boys and girls in my city that would not have this chance otherwise. My hope and dream is to see their faces light up with excitement! Most of these children are in bad situations because their parents were undisciplined and made bad life choices. And some of them are in situations they had no controle over. I would like to take them out of that if only for a few hours each week and teach them discipline and the value of hard work and setting goals. I want to be a positive role model; someone they can look up to and talk to. I want to give them all the life changing benifits of Martial Arts without it being a finacial burden to them or their families or caregivers. Will you help me make a positive impact on their lives?
Any support I receive will go directly to helping me acheive this goal. I currently have about 10 chidlren at a sheltor that i'm working with. I want to help each child and provide them with uniforms and a place to train and even transportaion to the karate school. Prayers and financial help is always needed but if you're willing to volunteer your time and resources, I would love for you to join me. The more children we impact the better!
