"I've been boxing for about 10 years."
She first gave boxing a shot after seeing an ad in the paper for a $5.00 trial class and the rest is history.
"I just never left after that! I loved it from the minute I walked in the gym. I came for the workout and stayed for everything else it ended up giving me. Obviously, it is a very physically demanding sport, but it is also mentally and emotionally challenging which hooked me. I love it because when I am fighting, I am totally in the moment. It is not like running or cycling where other things can creep into your mind while you're doing it, for better or for worse. I check everything at the door and while I'm at the gym, it is just about what is in front of me.
Also, so much about boxing for me has to do with the relationships I’ve cultivated over the years with other people involved in the sport. My gym family is my home away from home. When things are great, I want to share everything with my coach and my sparring partners. When things are bad, it is even more so. Further, I have met so many wonderful people involved in the sport from all walks of life from all over the world, especially so many strong and amazing women which have inspired me in so many ways.
I had no idea when I first started boxing, that it would affect my life in so many other positive and profound ways that I cannot even quantify.”
