The Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Program at Mount Sinai Hospital is a fantastic organization I've been actively involved with since 2001, and I'd love for you to join me in supporting the fine work they do day in and day out, and indeed throughout the nights and weekends.
In their words: SAVI is dedicated to validating, healing and empowering survivors and their supporters to lead safe, healthy lives through advocacy, free and confidential counseling, and public education.
In my words: we show up to help people in their times of need, we listen, we think about what we say, we think about what we think, we work as a team to navigate systems that are complicated and can be scary, we steadfastly support our survivors and hopefully infect our friends and family members and countless other people we encounter with with the knowledge and compassion we've honed as a result of being a part of this crazy family we call SAVI.
And we need all the help we can get. Because we want the world to be a better place, for all of us.
So howabout you click a few bucks away? It'll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside . . . .
