60 Folks - Donating 60 Bucks - for my 60th Birthday -- is my Wish!
As I contemplate turning 60 years old on November 2, 2017, I want to celebrate the day with something significant and something near and dear to my heart. I value Health, Wellness, Physical Fitness, Nature, The Outdoors, Fun, and Friendship. One of the places that I find all of these things the most in on the Border-to-Border Trail, and I dream about the days that I can ride my bkie from my home in Dexter, SAFELY along the Border-to-Border trail, all the way the Ann Arbor with Friends and Family. Or better yet, ride and rollerblade along the 70 Mile proposed Loop that connects Ann Arbor, to Dexter, to Chelsea, to Hamburg and back. What a Dream-Come-True, both of those things would be. So I have chosen The Karen's Trail Campaign, to honor the legacy of Karen McKeachie who was a wonderful person and a strong role model for health, fitness and competition, whose life ended too soon and tragically due to the lack of SAFE Recreational venues.
The Karen's Trail Campaign: Build the Border-to Border Trail!
Karen McKeachie, a pioneer in women’s sports, world-class triathlete, community leader and a beloved friend of many, was killed in August 2016 while biking on Dexter-Chelsea Road. It is the wish of Karen’s husband, family and friends to honor Karen’s life and legacy by building the Border-to-Border (B2B) Trail and providing safe, non- motorized pathways for all.
