BENEFITING: PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOP INC
What a great smile! Please meet Sophia, eight years old and she goes to Mission Education Center, a school for newly arrived Spanish-speaking immigrants. Kids at Mission Ed start the year with varying levels of education. Many come from low-income families.
Slowly, steadily, Sophia has started to come out of her shell. At first, she would mirror her classmates during dance classes. Now, she's actively participating and collaborating with her peers. According to Ms. Amani, "Sophia dances with a smile and has no problem standing in the front of the class."
At Performing Arts Workshop, we believe that arts education has the ability to empower children like Sophia. Remember that children have an enormous capacity to innovate, and we seem to be squandering those talents by removing arts from school. Our mission is to bring back the arts, and to provide kids the opportunity to be creative and develop critical thinking skills to take them forward. Please support our cause!
