I started long distance running when I was 14 years old. For years people have asked me "why do you run?" and for years the answer has pretty much been the same, "I run because I can". Then in 2011, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, something that would change my life forever. After the surgery and treatment and more importantly, after overcoming the crippling fear of the disease and the knowledge that cancer had taken the lives of my Mom, Dad and Sister and wondering if I was going to be next, I had a bit of a revelation. Friends and family always encouraged me to run marathons and always wondered why I trained so hard but did nothing with it. The answer was I just wanted to run and why did there have to be a reason or a purpose to it any more than that? But I soon realized that running was a God given talent and that it was time to put it to good use. The good use I chose to put my talent to was to raise money for cancer research. So here I am again, gearing up to run the NYC Marathon and hoping to raise as much money as possible for cancer research. Won't you please support help me by making a donation? Thank you!
