I know it has been a while since you made your generous donation to the Melanoma Foundation of New England through my 2016 Boston Marathon fundraiser, but I wanted to give you an update and thank you again!

It all started in Boston...the sunscreen dispensers that were funded initially through the Melanoma Foundation of New England through our marathon team have taken off like wildfire! And now New York City may be following our lead. With help and advice from the MFNE, New York City's comptroller, Scott Stringer, has proposed these dispensers be implemented. Mayor Bill deBlasio is considering the proposal now. New York City has 14 miles of beaches and almost 30,000 acres of parkland. How many lives might be saved with sunscreen dispensers in these locations? http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-beauty/news/new-york-city-may-install-free-sunscreen-dispensers-details-w212076

YOU were all a part of making this happen, and I wish I could thank you all in person.

Thank you again for your incredible support and donations. Micah returned from Uganda on Christmas Day after distributing 300 pounds of LEGO to kids and schools!
The warmth, need, and opportunity there is greater than we ever imagined. Can't wait to share more of these experiences with you, but in the mean time we’d like to send you a gift for your generosity.
Can you please send us a good shipping address?

I know that it has been a few months since the Boston Marathon, but I wanted to send you an update. With your generosity, my fundraising campaign for the Melanoma Foundation of NE raised almost $24,000! And our little team raised a whopping $385,000.

With those funds, the MFNE has been able to support several new initiatives. One of these involves developing distance learning applications to disseminate our successful anti-tanning programs across the U.S.

Another fantastic new initiative we've been able to fund is closer to home: sunscreen dispensers in Boston Public Parks! Read more about this exciting program at the link below, and know that you played an important role in making this happen. THANK YOU!

It has been almost 4 weeks since the 2015 Boston Marathon, and I'm amazed at how generous my friends and family were. Your donations to the Melanoma Foundation of New England totaled $23,720. I've thanked many of you via email already, but some of you were not in my address book, so I wanted to be certain to touch bases with you.

The MFNE Running for Cover marathon team was phenomenal this year. All members finished the race on a soggy, chilly, windy day, and together we raised $475,000 that will support the MFNE's mission of melanoma education, prevention and patient support. Our newest initiative? Supporting the placement and maintenance of 50 free sunscreen dispensers in Boston's parks this summer!

So, get outside and enjoy our lovely summer weather, but do it wisely. And if you are in a Boston public park, look around for our sunscreen dispensers!

May is Melanoma Awareness Month: have you had your skin checked this year? If not, please take this thank you note as an additional reminder to schedule an appointment with your dermatologist and #GetItChecked.

I'm unable to send photos via this Crowdrise web site, but if any of you would like to see photos from the race, please send me an email at rtravers@yahoo.com. I'll send them along!

Thank you all so very much!!
