My name is Karisma Nori Kulkarni. I am a senior at Tesla STEM High School in Redmond, WA. I am striving to become a Pediatrician with an emphasis in Neurosciences. In addition to applying for financial aid through FAFSA, I am competing in scholarship pageants to fund my higher education. I am participating in the International Junior Miss (IJM) and Miss America Organization's scholarship pageants in March 2016. The “cherries on the top” are the friendships and life experiences earned from partaking in pageants.
My mother is disabled. She suffers from “invisible” debilitating health issues. Her plight strengthened my commitment to becoming a medical doctor. I want to study Pediatric Medicine and International Relations for research, treatment and advocating about illnesses – visible and invisible – plaguing millions worldwide. I plan to make a difference in the course of healthcare lobbying the Government, Community Outreach programs, and working with Doctors without Borders and the United Nations (U.N).
Did you know that scholarship pageants give millions of dollars each year in scholarships such as partial to full-ride tuition-free education? The initial investment in pageants is expensive. But, the Return of Investment (ROI), is worth the underwriting. Scholarship pageants is an incredible opportunity for me to promote charitable causes, on a national platform, supported by the organization as well as ones close to my heart about eradicating the stigma of mental health disorders, pediatric illness, and promoting education and empowerment of women and children in our national and developing countries.
To realize my goal of becoming a Pediatrician, I have to tread a long and expensive journey. I am determined to overcome barriers through hard work in maintaining my grades, excellence in leadership (ASHA, The Tiffany Project, FBLA, Student Counsel, Honors Society, etc.), volunteering efforts, and being a productive and responsible citizen. I am voting in the 2016 elections!
I am seeking community support, from wonderful people like yourself, for financial and in-kind sponsorships to help me participate in scholarship pageants. I am choosing the pageants in which I participate very wisely (yes, I actually have a spreadsheet tracking expenses). You can rest assured that every penny is used towards my educational endeavors. Your contribution is an invaluable investment in future medical doctors like me. In this uncertain economic time, students like me count on your support – now more than ever! Please consider making as generous a financial gift as you can.
Please accept my deepest gratitude for your help and support.
