While in the Peace Corps in Uganda from 2006 - 2008 I helped start a computer training center that is still running today! The center offers computer training classes and access at a nominal cost to everyone in the rural community of Kasambya. The center is literally a link to the world for this small town in central-western Uganda. I am proud to say that since the small initial grant that helped the organization get off the ground, the center has been totally self-sufficient. That being said the margins are always tight and the equipment they are using is the same equipment we started with four years ago. Any donations to the center will go to upgrading the equipment they currently have and fixing any nonoperational machines. Nothing was more powerful to me than having young children, as small as 4 years old, come in the little bit of free time they had and jump on a computer and start learning about the world beyond their village. After a few months they were as adept with the technology as any of their peers in a western country. Please help out by continuing to improve their opportunities by helping to sustain the Kasambya Community Computer Centre.
