BENEFITING: Chinatown People Progressive Association Inc.
EVENT DATE: Jun 18, 2016
Hello, world! Kasey is at it again. I'm going to be riding in the 2016 Bike A Thon and I need your help to reach my goal of raising $500 for the Chinese Youth Initiative program that's near and dear to my heart. Can you donate $100, 75, 50, 25, 10, or 5? Any contribution goes towards an amazing youth program that was my political oasis as a high schooler struggling with personal and external surrounding issues and finding somewhere to both hold and place everything,
CYI gave me a much needed space to process and discuss identity, race, politics and more during a period where many other youth didn't feel inclined to explore. I not only spent a summer learning and working first hand with community members but I also continued doing so for the rest of my 3 years in high school. (Not to be dramatic, but there was a strong chance I would not have completed high school without having CYI there.) CYI provides an invaluable environment for young people and I want to help sustain this program.
Please support me and this progam in whatever you can contribute -- workshops or trainings, resources, money, anything to continue nurturing, developing, and supporting high school youth in their growth.
As for this specific fundraiser, I am asking you to donate whatever monetary amount you can. I did some math to break down what it would take for me to reach my goal: 5x$100, or 10x$50, or 20x$25, or 50x$10, or even 100x$5 donations will get me there. (I could get 6 and a third number of $75 donations but I think that will be quite alarming..) If money is not your thing right now, that's okay; consider other ways you can help.
If you've ever considered taking a detox from fancy coffee or bubble tea, now would be the time to put that money elsewhere and into other productive means! Thanks for reading~
With love, Kasey.
