BENEFITING: Marc Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2011
Here's the scoop: I am running my first marathon this year - the New York City Marathon! Luckily, I got in through lottery, which required no effort on my part other than replying "Yes" to my "You're In!" email...but I'd like to expend a bit of energy (other than my training of course ;)) and try to raise money for a tremendous cause.
The NYC Marathon is partnering with Crowdrise to try to get every runner involved and raise "$1 million per mile". Check out their page: http://www.crowdrise.com/ing-nyc-marathon-2011. Unlike years past, there is no minimun required to raise money for any specific charity. Rather, there is a huge list of charities to choose from, and no gift is too small!
I've chosen to run and raise money to support The Lustgarten Foundation (http://www.lustgarten.org/), a New York based Foundation solely dedicated to researching diagnosis, treatment and a CURE for pancreatic cancer - a cause close to my heart and one that has affected my family and friends deeply. Any contribution you make to my page will go directly to this Foundation and will help contribute to what could be the largest fundraising event of any NYC Marathon so far.
Thank you in advance for your love and support! All contributions are greatly appreciated.
Oh and gimme a shout if you're in NYC on November 6th - I've decided to wear neon, naturally, so I'm easy to spot...I'll also likely be walking and/or wheezing, so not hard to find ;)
