Katherine Jacobsen Miss Southern California Reg. OT 2014
Organized by: JayMaxwell Jacobsen
EVENT DATE Jun 27, 2014
Dear family and friends,
On June 27th I will be representing Southern California in the Miss California's Outstanding Teen Pageant. I am really working hard to reach my goals and could really use your support.
In case you are wondering, if I win the Miss California's Outstanding Teen title then I will represent the state of California in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant held each year in Florida. Miss America's Outstanding Teen is an American scholarship pageant. It is a sister company to the Miss America Organization, and it aims to "promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens."
The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance.
This assistance is not just for the handful of young women who become Miss America, but is available to the over 12,000 young women who compete in the state and local competitions as well.
As you can see, I am working for my future and for my higher education. For my platform, I have chosen Special Olympics. Special Olympics provides training for life. They not only provide people with intellectual disabilities with physical fitness and athletic competition, but also social interaction, community involvement, and empowerment.
So, in preparation for Miss California's Outstanding Teen, I ask for your support.
I will be competing in the following:
Interview: Panel style with at least 6 judges. I will answer questions ranging from national current events, my resume, and my platform of Special Olympics.
Talent: I will be singing "Feeling Good," by Nina Simone
Fitness: I will perform a fitness routine to demonstrate internal and external strength.
Evening gown and on stage question: They want to be sure I can think on my feet. :)
I'm very excited for this opportunity. Thank you all for your interest and support. We will be sure to keep you all posted.
