Clint SAYS:
Last week I went to Las Vega…
Last week I went to Las Vegas to spend the weekend with my brother Chase, a Marine, who just returned from Afghanistan with his unit. They were celebrating their return as a battalion by having a Marine Corps Ball at Mandalay Bay. It was great to see my brother who I had not seen in almost three years.

One thing for sure is he's not the same person... he's different, but in a better way. Fortunately, he was not injured on any of the three tours he has done (2 in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan). But several of his buddies and fellow Marines didn't have the same luck. I had the pleasure of meeting several of these injured Marines who've lost limbs. It wasn't unusual to be walking through the hotel and casino and see men who were in wheel chairs or walking on their new prosthetic leg(s).

Something that I was unaware of is the fact that our military men and women pay for almost everything themselves from their uniforms to their combat gear. That disturbed me to learn. I imagine that they do have disability but that it isn't that great, but that is an assumption not fact. What I do know is that several of these amputees will never be able to work the manual labor jobs that many of them resort to in order to support their families after serving.

And that's what we are raising money for with Pushups For Charity. We're raising money to help send these veterans to school, support their families, and pay for medical bills that they will have the rest of their life which are not all covered by their benefits.

We are just 13 days from our event here at Raising The Barr Fitness on May 12, 2012. At 10:30am on the 12th we will perform as many pushups as we can in 90 seconds to help reach our goal of $15,000. You may be doing pushups with us, and you may just be helping raise donations by being a part of our team. Regardless, we want you there on the 12th.

I want to encourage you to send emails, post to facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc. to all your friends, family, and co-workers to get more sponsors and donors over the next 13 days. We can reach our goal locally and our national goal of $500,000 with your help. Ask everyone you know. Ask often.

I'm honored that you are willing to be a part of our team and help raise awareness and giving for our fallin' heroes, past and present. Thank you for your willingness to participate. Thank you for your donations. And thank you for your support of our military men and women.

To our freedom,
Clint Barr
