EVENT DATE: Aug 28, 2016
In the summer of 2015, we learned that Matt's dad Carl has been fighting pulmonary hypertension, likely for his whole life. See Carl preparing for a hike in Boulder a few years ago to the left. Narrow arteries in the heart constrict blood flow to the lungs, putting increasing pressure on the right ventricle of the heart to pump blood through the lungs and eventually causing the right ventricle to swell.
For Carl, this has meant scaling back his workout routine, fighting the temptation to visit the mountains when he comes to visit Denver and occasionally using an oxygen tank when he is having trouble breathing. But thanks to the work of dedicated researchers like the team at the University of Colorado, patients with PH have a growing number of treatment options available to them to help them fight this chronic condition. With your help, we can help get Carl back to the mountains!
