The events of September 11th is a tragedy that hits close to home for me. As a New York native, I grew up as the daughter and niece of New York City Firefighters and Police Officers. Though 15 years have passed since far too many first responders made the ultimate sacrifice, the devastating effects of this tragedy linger. With each year that passes, countless first responders continue to become critically and terminally ill as an effect of the toxins they were exposed to during their rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. Please consider donating to support those who have made the most extraordinary sacrifice. I'm grateful for each step and every mile I can run, in honor of:
For all the brave and beautiful souls, whose lives were cut tragically short
For all the firefighters, police officers and first responders... for your extraordinary acts of heroism and continual sacrifices
And for my Dad ... My hero. An FDNY Chief and the current UFOA President. For your tireless dedication to the fire department & unwavering commitment to helping others.
The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty!
