Why We Fundraise
Your generous support enables the National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association, a global community, to continue its work as one of the world’s leading charitable organizations whose purpose is to help people living with chronic pain illnesses. Your contributions help them to live a better quality of life through knowledge, resources, and scientific discovery. Thank you for supporting the NFCPA.
For years I have watched a close relative and several friends suffer with fibromyalgia. I have chronic pain from various forms of arthritis, notably psoriatic arthritis. This fundraising event is very important to me.
Fibromyalgia (FM) takes its toll on once healthy individuals, especially between ages 20-60. Escalating stress and fear of what might lie ahead if symptoms worsen can contribute to anxiety and depression. There are no cures for fibromyalgia; however, as with any illness, some symptoms can be controlled with carefully improved lifestyle changes.
FM is a physical disorder, not a psychological condition. The most common constellation of FM symptoms (widespread chronic muscle pain, sleeplessness, relentless fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, and a host of other overlapping conditions can wax and wane over time.
National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association (www.fibroandpain.org) is a not-for-profit, §501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to unite patients, policy makers, and healthcare, medical and scientific communities to transform lives through visionary support, advocacy, research and education of fibromyalgia and chronic pain diseases. The goal is to end chronic pain conditions from derailing lives by promoting early diagnosis, driving scientific research for a cure, and facilitating translational research for the THREE A’s of Treatment for fibromyalgia and chronic pain: Appropriate, Accessible, and Affordable. It gives me extra motivation to know that through the Together Walk, I am directly helping those impacted by chronic pain.
Please consider joining the Together Walk by registering to join my team or making a tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, or any amount you can afford. You can also mail a check to me made out to NFMCPA. In addition, you can donate at my PayPal account (paypal.me/KathyatLodge17).
Please remember that no donation is too small. Your tax-deductible gift makes a difference for millions of Americans. Don’t forget to ask your employer if they have a matching gift program; it’s another way to help me reach my goals.
Through the generosity of my friends and family like you, I know I will succeed in making a difference. Whether you walk beside me or donate to the cause, we are raising awareness, advocating for better access to care, and funding research into better treatments. Thank you for making fibromyalgia visible and for your continued support!
Mark will be walking at Camp Harkness; I am doing a virtual walk.
