Last year Kathy ran the Boston Marathon for the first time and was stopped a half mile from the finish, caught up in the bombings that brought a tragic end to the race. She is returning again this year to cross the finish line and hopefully raise some funds for a good cause at the same time. Dr. Michelle Hermiston is a runner and pediatric oncologist at UCSF Benioff Hospital who works tirelessly to find a cure for leukemia while treating children and families stricken by cancer. This year she qualified for the Boston Marathon and will be running it to honor the kids and families in her life. Both Kathy and Michelle have been training together and will run the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21st and will then fly back to the west coast to run the hilly Big Sur Marathon on Sunday, April 27th. Two marathons, on two coasts, in six days. Our tribute to those who have lived and lost from cancer.
