BENEFITING: OVARIAN CANCER SYMPTOM AWARENESS ORGANIZATION
EVENT DATE: Sep 09, 2012
This Sunday I will be running the Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K in memory of a dear friend and mentor, Susan Mark Roman, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer on March 5th, 2012.
After her first diagnonsis in 2009, Susan and Rick Roman (husband) along with their friend Vallie Szymanski founded an organization called Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness.
Here's where you come in... I'm asking each of you to simply donate $10 to this cause. Not because I'm running... but because ovarian cancer is a silent killer that we have so much to learn about. Ovarian cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death among women in the U.S. Since some of the symptoms of ovarian cancer include bloating, headache and fatigue, they are often ignored by the woman experiencing them.
What exactly am I supporting?
Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness is devoted to heightening awareness and spreading the word about the silent symptoms of ovarian cancer in the hope of saving lives. OCSA is a 501(c)(3) organization that attends health fairs and gives presentations at conferences, schools, businesses, etc. to educate people about ovarian cancer risk factors, prevention, and early detection. September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, so learn about the signs and steps to inform others.
